FROM THE PRESIDENT
We had a great meet in September with about 25 – 30 members in attendance. It was a beautiful day and the Vikings were playing but we still managed to have a good time. There were some great
trains on the tables. I picked up an O-gauge American Flyer Zephyr set that looked brand new and ran well. I also picked up an AMT Pennsylvania BUDD car to add to my collection. I always say you need to be at the meets because you never know what will show up. Some other great pre-war trains showed up and were snapped up pretty quick.
Due to business travel I will be unable to attend the October meet as I will be in our Nation’s capital for a few days. Rick will do the announcements and Mike Helde will be running his modern Standard Gauge trains on the stage. Please come out and support our club and see your friends and hopefully go home with some new trains.
The open meet will be on Sunday on November 11th. We will open the doors for members at 11:15 so they have time to set up prior to letting the public in around 12:15 or so. Hotdogs and pop will be
available as well. I will get the flyers to the October meet so they can be distributed to the usual places and I will get an ad up on Craigslist as well. Please plan on staying the entire time if you are selling. I will not be selling trains at this meet since I would rather be shopping then selling.
Ira has donated another Angella Trotta Thomas picture that we will be raffling off in December. All proceeds go to the club and we will begin selling tickets at the October meet. This is a great way to support the club and maybe win a great picture for your train room. See the photo below. Susan will have tickets available at the October thru December meets and we will raffle it off during our Holiday party.
The “Big Win” contest is in full swing. We will have updated
applications on hand for you to grab if you have someone in mind
that would like to join. Take advantage of this promotion and you
could win a Big Boy and introduce some new members to the club.
We have a strong train community in Minnesota and we want to
keep our membership growing.
Enjoy the October meet and we will see you in November.
